If your insurance company does not approve the prescribed medication, we will send information to the insurance company stating the reason the initially prescribed medication is necessary and ask that an exception be made. Approval of the exception is not guaranteed and may take several weeks.
A controlled substance is a medication whose use is regulated by state and federal law. Patients on controlled substances will need to obtain a written prescription (without refills) on a monthly basis. If you are using such medications, we require an appointment to review your condition at least every 6 months, including an annual appointment with a physician. In order to continue receiving controlled substance prescriptions, we also require a signed contract agreeing to comply with NSC clinic policies.
